In The Deep empowers kids to flourish in the water, by teaching them how to swim.
With our world-class program and structured, thorough approach to teaching, we break down a complex skill into an easier-to-grasp, personal experience.
Our classes have been carefully designed to meet the strengths and weaknesses each child uniquely faces in their swimming journey.
We slow things down so it’s easier to grasp and master the skill. We're not one to teach everything overwhelmingly all at once. Hello, recipe for a stressed and fearful little learner right there!
Instead, we take a relaxed and safe approach, thinking about the long-term impacts of teaching kids to swim, how we can best set them up to build confidence and achieve, rather than rushing them through what is a complex skill to learn.
We do this with our proven progressions. Our method of skills-building in smaller steps, helps kids focus on getting good, one skill at a time. It creates lots of milestones where we can celebrate a win with a beautiful ribbon.
Progressions help to relieve the overwhelm of learning to swim. When your child has mastered a progression, they're ready to move onto the next challenge and further develop their abilities.
With lots of fun and courage-building along the way, we reveal the wonders of being in the water, gently guiding kids to become relaxed, stress-free swimmers.
Water is a wondrous world for you and your babe to explore together!
Our baby program is designed to form a trusting and loving bond between you both in the water, creating a connection that few environments compare to.
Our Squirts classes come with a sense of fun, as we navigate how to swim safely. We're here to develop confident parents, resulting in confident, relaxed children.
As you grow your skills and confidence, we love seeing how unique each child's expression to the water is. It's in these precious, early moments we hope to guide your little one into a lifelong love of swimming.

Learning to float and relax in the water is key to gaining the confidence kids need when learning to swim.
At In The Deep our Learn to Swim program is purposefully designed to slow down the process of learning a complex skill, so that children find joy, rather than fear in the water.
Avoid the use of floatation devices. These devices remove the beauty and sensation of the water from the learn to swim experience and hinder your child's progress.
We'll teach children how to swim before learning competitive strokes. You won't see kids do over arms until they can swim the length of our 25 metre pool. Over arms causes us to go under water and is unsafe for young children learning how to swim.
All teach the same thing. Consistency and repetition is key when learning a new skill, so all of our teachers are trained in and follow the same program.
Focus on quality technique and skills. We take our time to get things right for amazing long term results.
In Lil' Gills, we'll explore the pool within a play-based environment to help hesitant kids over the age of three become familiar with the structure of swimming lessons.
You'll join your child in the water, until they're happy and have developed a bond with their teacher.
We believe in creating a joyous relationship with the water, rather than one of fear. We'll never force your child to participate in lessons.
Instead, we'll do everything we can to positively encourage your child, to help them understand how the water can be safe and fun for them to enjoy!
In Yellow Tails we guide your child to become confident in going underwater and discovering their buoyancy.
We'll teach and encourage them in learning how to hold their breath, float and move through the water. We'll also teach them about safe pool habits.
In Orange Tails we help your child to develop their sense of buoyancy in the water with a focus on being able to float independently.
We'll show them how to more skillfully float in various positions and move more easily through the water. We'll also continue to teach them about safe pool habits.
In Red Tails we show your child how to develop the skill and confidence to swim the length of a 25 metre pool, whilst completely relaxed and in control.
In this level, you'll see your child moving more confidently through the water, being able to take a breath when they need to.
We'll show them how to swim longer distances with ease. They'll learn the skill of gliding, and how to navigate themselves in the water so they can dive to the bottom of the pool.
Planning for beautiful, effortless-looking technique in the swimming journey starts here in our FINS levels. We create the conditions with foundational skills that lead to relaxed, easeful swimmers.
By the end of this program, you'll see your child able to swim basic freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke kick and butterfly kick.
Break down the stroke to focus on core elements. We do this with our progressions approach, the secret sauce to beautiful technique.
Focus on Freestyle and Backstroke. We'll slowly introduce elements of the more complex strokes, butterfly and breaststroke, too.
Have small classes and lots of ribbons to ensure success. FINS requires practice and encouragement, so we'll do everything we can to help positively guide your child to find their feet – ah, fins that is!
In Purple Fins, we'll introduce strokes for the first time, after your child has developed the skill and confidence to swim the length of our 25 metre pool in Red Tails.
And not just of the body. In Fins classes, we expect children to listen and wait their turn in a class of three. Building important life skills, too, no?!
In Green Fins, we'll challenge your child as we begin working on complex body position skills.
Where and how your child positions their body in the water, determines if they flow through the water or if they fight through the water.
In this class, they'll master body position in the four major swimming strokes; freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly.
With solid foundations, we're now ready to build! In Blue Fins, we'll challenge your child with coordination and timing of their arms, legs and body position.
In this class, they've the skills to coordinate their movements and achieve the basic mechanics of freestyle and backstroke. As these are complex to achieve, drills allow us to slow things down so your child is given the control they need to succeed.
In our Wings program we build on our solid foundational work for beautiful, effortless-looking swimming. We apply our foundation skills together in motion to complete the development of each of the four swimming strokes.
By the end of this program, you'll see your child able to swim efficient and easeful freestyle and backstroke. They'll also have the basic mechanics of breaststroke and the beginnings of butterfly.
Combine all of the learned skills to develop coordination. We're looking for flow when your child combines their solid skills of kicking, body position, breathing, pull and recovery.
Further develop Freestyle and Backstroke skills. We'll continue to build on Breaststroke and Butterfly skills, too.
In Silver Wings, we'll focus on combining all of your child's hard-won foundational skills to work on flowing through the water with ease.
They'll develop their sense of co-ordination and timing with all four strokes.
In Gold Wings, we'll add the challenge of distance before your child is ready to graduate to the big leagues! (Squad Levels, that is!)
This class is the last level where your child's teacher is in the water, and we'll guide them to find endurance whilst reinforcing their technique over a longer distance.
In our Squads program we're focused on finding efficiency.
Before adding lots of laps and repetitive swimming, we're looking to achieve a relaxed and efficient stroke so that we create the best conditions for beautiful technique.
Focus on technique with every lap. We're looking for any habits we need to course correct. Practice makes permanent, so we bring awareness to technique that could hinder progress. While gaining fitness and strength is important, we make the most of our time in developing graceful swimming technique so that your child is equipped for a lifetime love of swimming.
In our first mini-squad level, Waves, your child now has the maturity to take instructions from a teacher out of the water. Woo!
They're able to understand and perform advanced drills in all four swimming strokes. With this in mind, they'll begin their journey of technical proficiency.
